Established in 2021, Futsal BX aims to service the many thousands of local footballers within the Bathurst region by promoting and providing competitions, tournaments, and coach and player development programs for the sport of Futsal.
Futsal is played and loved the world over and Futsal BX is committed to unlocking its potential to be both an excellent player development format and a thriving game in its own right. Futsal brings speed, movement, skill, decision making and first touch into focus and; because of the indoor setting and focus on skill, accessibility and inclusion; has the potential to become the leading indoor sport within the Bathurst region.
From a LEARN 2 FUTSAL program of 20 players in 2021, FUTSAL BX has grown to deliver it's first Summer season in 2022/2023 with almost 300 registered players. Futsal is the fastest growing indoor sport internationally and here is why:
It is a great way to improve technical skills. The smaller court and ball size in futsal force players to be more precise with their passing, dribbling, and shooting. This makes futsal an excellent training ground for young footballers who want to develop their technical skills.
It is a fast-paced and exciting game. The rules of futsal encourage a high-tempo, end-to-end style of play, which makes for a very entertaining game to watch. This has helped to attract new fans to the sport, particularly in countries where football is already popular.
It is a relatively inexpensive sport to play. All you need is a futsal ball and a small, indoor space. This makes it accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds, which has helped to drive its growth.
It is a global sport. Futsal is played in over 120 countries worldwide, which means that there are opportunities to compete at all levels, from local leagues to international tournaments. This has helped to raise the profile of the sport and attract new players from all over the world.
WHAT IS FUTSAL?
Invented in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1930, Futsal is; in essence; a scaled-down version of outdoor football played indoors. It is a small-sided game (5v5) played on a smaller playing area (roughly basketball court-sized) with a smaller, low-bounce ball.
Futsal is played with touchline boundaries meaning there are no walls in play. This is the game that football players around the globe play when they are indoors to refine and maintain their control, skills, and touch, and is the fastest growing indoor sport in the world.
Futsal is the only indoor game sanctioned by FIFA who recognise the game as the most effective indoor format of football for player skill development.
